Remembering D-Day

 

Today is the 78th anniversary of D-Day.  More than 150,000 American and Allied troops, many just 18 years-old or in their early 20s, landed on the beaches of Normandy to liberate an entire continent from the evils of national socialism (Nazis). 

 

We might be able to honor those brave men best today by re-reading the tremendous prayer that President Franklin D. Roosevelt delivered to the nation as the liberation of Europe was under way.  Here is a brief excerpt:

 

“Almighty God: Our sons, pride of our Nation, this day have set upon a mighty endeavor, a struggle to preserve our Republic, our religion, and our civilization, and to set free a suffering humanity.  Lead them straight and true; give strength to their arms, stoutness to their hearts, steadfastness in their faith. . .

 

“And, O Lord, give us Faith. Give us Faith in Thee; Faith in our sons; Faith in each other; Faith in our united crusade. Let not the keenness of our spirit ever be dulled. Let not the impacts of temporary events . . . deter us in our unconquerable purpose.

 

“With Thy blessing, we shall prevail over the unholy forces of our enemy. . . Thy will be done, Almighty God. Amen.”

 

This is a good prayer to remember in our own pleas that God would give us that same strength and courage as we endeavor to save our country today from the increasingly unhinged socialist, authoritarian left.

 

 

 

Many More D-Days

 

As I just reminded you, our liberation of Europe began with 150,000 young men pouring onto the beaches of Normandy.  You’ve no doubt seen the historic newsreel videos of what a visual onslaught that was. 

 

Well, that’s about 50,000 fewer than the number of people who are crossing our southern border every month under Joe Biden!

 

Two million illegal aliens crossed our border last year.  That’s the equivalent of 13 D-Days. 

 

But even with all of that, there is yet another caravan forming.  There are at least 10,000 people in this caravan, and it is expected to grow to 15,000 in the coming days. 

 

At least two-thirds of the migrants are women and children.  They’re obviously not skilled workers.  They will become additional burdens on taxpayers of all races and ethnic backgrounds. 

 

This humanitarian crisis is destroying communities on the American side of the border, but the damage extends into every community in America as the Biden Administration is busing and flying illegal aliens all over the country. 

 

Schools are forced to teach classes in multiple languages at a time when our children have been educationally crushed by COVID, critical race theory and the woke agenda.  Criminal aliens and drugs are pouring across the border, fueling America’s crime wave and a record number of overdose deaths.

 

I seriously doubt that Joe Biden thought about the border for even a second while he was improving his tan at the Delaware beaches this weekend.  If he did, it probably brought a smile to his face because it’s exactly what he and the open borders left want.

 

 

 

Second Amendment Under Siege

 

America has huge problems that are causing an explosion of crime.  Most of the violence is happening in major cities dominated by leftist mayors and city councils. 

 

These leftist politicians have handcuffed the cops, and in some cases defunded their police departments.  They have instituted easy or no bail policies that put criminals back on the streets.  They are presiding over failed schools, in which truancy is sky high. 

 

The larger context of the growing crime crisis involves fatherless families, a cultural collapse of Judeo-Christian values and the accompanying moral decay that is corrupting every institution in American life.

 

All these problems are essentially rooted in political and cultural progressivism.

 

After the horror in Uvalde, forces that want to disarm law-abiding citizens are repeating the phrase “mass shootings” and demanding that we “do something.” 

 

Everyone wants to stop the horror that took place at Robb Elementary.  There are things that can be done without taking rights away from law-abiding Americans.

 

But let’s be clear about this:  Most “mass shootings” involve gang violence and the drug trade.  By some estimates, 90% of the guns used in the commission of a crime were illegally obtained.  It shouldn’t shock anyone that criminals don’t obey gun laws.

 

Over the weekend, gun fire erupted at a street party in Philadelphia.  Fourteen people were shot.  Three were killed.  No arrests have been made. 

 

This weekend in Chicago, 28 people were shot.  Four were killed.  The gang members and drug dealers engaged in this kind of “routine” violence just melt back into their neighborhoods. 

 

They don’t care one whit about some bipartisan agreement coming out of Congress that will most likely make it harder for law-abiding Americans in those communities to own a firearm to protect themselves.

 

There’s a story out of Texas that won’t get the coverage it deserves.  A woman was being stalked by an unhinged man.  She had recently moved, but the man found her and was breaking down her front door when she opened fire and killed him. 

 

Thank God that lady lives in America where the Second Amendment allows her to protect herself.

 

 

 

The Double Standard On Display

 

For those who still can’t figure out why half the country feels the system is rigged, all you have to do is look at the juxtaposition of justice last week. 

 

Peter Navarro, Donald Trump’s White House economics adviser, is suing the Justice Department because he refuses to testify before the kangaroo court that is the January 6th Committee.  He believes he is protected by executive privilege, the legal principle that presidents have a right to confidential advice. 

 

The Justice Department went to a grand jury and indicted Navarro.  Now, Peter Navarro is hardly a threat to the public.  He’s not a hardened criminal.  He’s in the middle of a political dispute.  The normal way to handle this would have been to call him and tell him to surrender to authorities. 

 

But that’s not what the FBI did.  Federal agents followed him to the airport and arrested him in front of dozens of people.  A former federal prosecutor told CNN that his arrest was “unusual” and that it was likely meant “to send a hard message.”

 

Does his treatment have anything to do with Navarro’s advocacy for impeaching Joe Biden?  I’ve repeatedly called for Biden’s impeachment, too!

 

The “hard message” Navarro’s arrest sends comes on the heels of Clinton lawyer Michael Sussmann being acquitted by a Democrat jury in a trial presided over by a Democrat judge. 

 

It comes as dozens of Americans, who have not yet had their day in court, are still rotting in D.C. jails over the events of January 6, 2021.  You can assault someone in Washington, D.C., and be back out on the street faster than these January 6th defendants.

 

 

 

Putting Faith First

 

As you know, the left politicizes everything, including sports.  Virtually every sports team is under incredible pressure to bend to the LGBTQ community during “Pride month.”  The latest example comes from the Tampa Bay Rays.

 

The Tampa baseball team hosted a “Pride Night” over the weekend and changed the team’s logo on the players’ uniforms.  A handful of brave players refused to wear the new gay-themed logo. 

 

Speaking to reporters, one of the “resisting” players indicated that this was a faith-based decision to not promote certain sexual behaviors.  Kudos to these players for standing for their faith and resisting the cancel culture!

 

Again, it’s very telling that a movement based on tolerance is now demanding total submission – even to the point of having individuals “brand” themselves with gay-themed logos regardless of whether they are gay or not. 

 

And what exactly is the point of advertising that you have “pride” in someone else’s private sexual habits? 

 

I thought the whole point of the gay rights movement was that it shouldn’t matter what two consenting adults do in the privacy of their own bedrooms.  Fine.  Just keep it private.  We don’t need to know.  If sexual orientation shouldn’t be an issue, then stop making it an issue!

 

Meanwhile, the Carolina Panthers are “celebrating” what is believed to be the first transgender (a man who claims to be a woman) cheerleader.  Are the real female cheerleaders, who must share locker room facilities with this man, on board with this? 

 

Perhaps football fans and season ticket holders need to contact the Panthers and speak out!
