Bragg’s Bad Bet
By now, you’ve heard the big news. Alvin Bragg, Manhattan’s radical, Soros-funded district attorney, may be on the verge of arresting Donald Trump. The former president issued a statement over the weekend indicating that he expected to be arrested early this week.
I can’t think of anything more likely to divide our country. The criminalization of politics and the weaponization of law enforcement is how persecution begins. It is further evidence of America’s rapid descent into neo-Marxist totalitarianism.
The potential charges are related to an event that happened seven years ago. If Bragg persists, we would be facing the fifth election in a row where law enforcement was weaponized to meddle in our elections.
The political left has fought Donald Trump tooth and nail. It concocted the Russian collusion hoax, which paralyzed his administration for two years. Within minutes of his inauguration, the Washington Post ran this story: “The Campaign To Impeach Trump Has Begun.”
Then there was the Mueller investigation, which found nothing. There was the impeachment over a phone call. There was the second impeachment after Trump left office. And there was the FBI raid on his home at Mar-a-Lago.
Meanwhile, Joe Biden stashed classified documents at multiple locations, and there were no FBI raids on his house.
Solid majorities of the American people believe cheating impacted the 2020 election and that the Washington political establishment colluded to deny Trump’s reelection. A tremendous level of cynicism threatens our Republic far more than Vladimir Putin.
Legal Eagles Blast Bragg
Several legal scholars blasted Bragg for dredging up such a weak and desperate case against the former president.
In a column today, George Washington Law Professor Jonathan Turley called Bragg’s case “legally pathetic.” Speaking to Fox News over the weekend, Turley said:
“One would say Bragg is outside of his lane, but in this case, he’s on a completely different highway. This is an effort by a state official to effectively prosecute a federal crime, a crime that the Department of Justice decided not to prosecute. . . This has the feeling of a thrill kill for many on the left, and they need to think seriously about what this [means] for the legal system."
Harvard Law Professor Alan Dershowitz compared Bragg’s investigation to a Soviet show trial, saying:
“This is the worst kind of prosecutorial abuse. I hate to make analogies to the Soviet Union, but it’s very similar to what the head of the KGB, Joseph Stalin said, ‘Show me the man, and I’ll find you the crime.’”
Former federal prosecutor Andrew McCarthy did not mince words, writing that Bragg was engaged in “classic, invidious selective prosecution. . . launched strictly for political purposes.” McCarthy denounced the case as “a blatantly partisan exercise of raw power.”
Further highlighting the double standard of justice, it’s been noted that Hillary Clinton essentially committed the same offense. Her campaign was fined by the Federal Election Commission, but Hillary was never charged, arrested or prosecuted.
But, as the old saying goes, a good prosecutor can get a grand jury to indict a ham sandwich. The members of the grand jury are only getting one side of the story – Bragg’s version of events. And it’s highly unlikely that Trump could get a fair trial in such a liberal enclave as New York City.
Republican Reaction
There were media reports late last week suggesting that Trump was likely to be indicted and arrested this week. These stories were cheered by CNN, MSNBC and major left-wing newspapers. And I heard from a lot of people who were furious about this political abuse of our justice system.
But it was really frustrating to see how many of the GOP presidential contenders stayed silent over the weekend and did not react to these reports that Trump could be facing imminent arrest.
In stark contrast, one candidate who clearly stood out was Vivek Ramaswamy. He said:
“It is un-American for the ruling party to use police power to arrest its political rivals. . . This will mark a dark moment in American history and will undermine public trust in our electoral system itself. . . We’re skating on thin ice as a country right now. We need a national revival, not a national divorce.”
Ramaswamy is a businessman, he’s not a politician. But his political instincts were much sharper than the other politicians who stayed quiet.
Some will suggest that Trump’s opponents shouldn’t be expected to rush to his defense. But this is much bigger than Donald Trump.
The abuse of our legal system and the weaponization of law enforcement are existential threats to the very Republic Trump’s competitors hope to lead. And the real victims here are the millions of Americans who want to make their own decision about who should be elected president in 2024.
A Drag On Society
Drag queen story hours have suddenly become ubiquitous events. They’re popping up at public libraries and even in public schools. Some people say, “Yeah, that’s weird, but it’s not that big of a deal.” Sorry, but that’s the wrong way to think about it.
This has become the latest skirmish on the front lines of America’s culture war. It’s nothing less than the LGBTQ+ mafia forcing its values on your children and grandchildren.
The issue isn’t why parents should keep their kids away from drag queens. The issue is why do drag queens insist on having an audience of children? Well, as RuPaul put it, “Drag queens are the Marines of the queer movement.” And they are attacking normalcy at every opportunity.
These weird adults are insisting on their right to spend time with your children and grandchildren, exposing them to abnormal behavior and indoctrinating them about sensitive matters that should remain between a child and his or her parents.
A frequent critique of the conservative movement is that we shouldn’t just rail against what we’re opposed to, but we should also offer wholesome alternatives. That’s exactly what Kirk Cameron and publishing company BRAVE Books have done.
Cameron has gone to libraries and asked for equal time to read his book series, which is based on biblical values. First, the left-wing libraries rejected his requests. So, he threatened to sue. Now, they are grudgingly opening their doors.
But the drag queen “Marines,” their transgender allies and the LGBTQ+ mafia are attempting to disrupt Cameron’s events.
In Fayetteville, Arkansas, hundreds of people showed up to hear Cameron’s story hour. But several drag queens dressed as Catholic nuns in “demonic-appearing face painting” protested the event.
In New York, Attorney General Letitia James took a break from investigating Donald Trump and hosted her own drag queen story hour at taxpayer expense.
Meanwhile, Chaya Raichik, a Jewish woman who has brilliantly exposed radical leftists on TikTok, has written her own children’s book. Entitled, “No More Secrets: The Candy Cavern,” it teaches kids not to keep secrets from their parents, no matter what public school groomers, I mean teachers, tell them.
Raichik was scheduled to host a story hour near Letitia James’s event as a pro-family alternative. But Raichik’s story hour was canceled due to so many threats of “inappropriate and unsafe behavior” by intolerant leftists.
My friends, if we continue retreating in this ongoing demonic culture war being waged against families, Christians, children, normalcy, free speech and religious liberty, issues like lower marginal tax rates and a strong national defense will not save America.
So, yes, this is a big deal.
But few in the GOP establishment are willing to take it on. I haven’t heard Senators Romney or Murkowski address this issue. Has anyone heard Liz Cheney or Adam Kinzinger speak out against it?
Are any of the Republicans regularly on TV urging us to get deeper and deeper into the Ukraine war saying anything about the left’s war against our children?
