Drone Drama Continues
There was no end to the drone drama over the weekend. Nor was there an end to the stupidity coming from the Biden administration. By the way, here’s a little history on this phenomenon.
On October 12th, the Wall Street Journal reported that unidentified drones flying in formation swarmed a critical military base in Virginia for 17 days straight. It’s shocking that our government tolerated this for 17 days. Just as shocking is the fact that we only learned about this bizarre event more than ten months after it occurred in December 2023.
Coincidentally or not, they were taking place over the same base that launched an F-22 fighter to shoot down the Chinese spy balloon earlier that year.
We also learned that multiple drones had been spotted flying over a Nevada nuclear weapons testing facility in October 2023 and Edwards Air Force Base in California earlier this year.
The Journal reported the Biden White House was fully briefed on what was happening. The drone sightings “set off two weeks of White House meetings” with officials from the FBI and the Pentagon “to throw out possible explanations as well as ideas about how to respond.” Our “leaders” were unable to agree on any solution.
Fast forward to now when drone incursions are shutting down critical military bases and commercial airports.
An Absurd Response
The Biden administration continues to insist that most of these drone sightings are really fixed-wing aircraft that Americans are mistakenly identifying as drones. This is no doubt true in many cases. But the idea that this explains it all is absurd.
It completely ignores what has happened over the past 12 to 18 months.
It completely ignores the Coast Guard commander who told a member of Congress that dozens of drones tracked a 47-foot Coast Guard vessel in the middle of the night.
Are members of the Coast Guard incapable of telling the difference between an airplane and a drone?
White House National Security spokesman John Kirby said we haven’t developed a policy on bringing down unknown drones because “we just don’t know enough,” and we can’t risk injuring people on the ground. At the same time, state and federal officials continue to insist that there is no risk from the drones.
If that’s the case, then why are the instructions to local officials so alarming? One New Jersey mayor said that if a drone is brought down, their orders are to “immediately call the bomb squad” and deploy the fire department in HAZMAT suits.
Why the extreme measures? “Because they’re not quite sure if there’s a “payload or not,” the mayor replied.
Let’s try a mental exercise.
More than 60,000 people attended the Army-Navy football game this weekend. Watching the game from a skybox was President-elect Donald Trump, Vice President-elect J.D. Vance, House Speaker Mike Johnson, incoming Senate Majority Leader John Thune, Tulsi Gabbard, Kash Patel, Pete Hegseth, Elon Musk, Vivek Ramaswamy, and Daniel Penny.
Is the National Security spokesman seriously telling us that if 20 drones started flying toward that stadium, there is nothing we could or would do? Or they wouldn’t respond because someone on the ground might get hurt?
If the drones were carrying biological agents or were armed in some other way, a whole lot of people would be in harm’s way.
Where’s Joe?
Speaking of the Army-Navy game, one person who was conspicuously absent from the game this weekend was President Joe Biden. In fact, Biden never went to even one Army-Navy game. He has skipped them all four years of his presidency.
This is the only sporting event in America where the athletes on the field are willing to die for the fans in the stands. And Joe Biden could never find the time to show his respect for their courage. Perhaps White House officials were afraid he would be booed by the audience.
The crowd went wild for Donald Trump. Cheers of “USA! USA!” broke out multiple times. The Army and Navy choirs jointly sang a beautiful rendition of the Star-Spangled Banner.
Donald Trump has not been inaugurated yet, but his actions are those of a man who is already president and is working to save the country in multiple ways.
The outgoing president is busy, too. Virtually every day, he comes up with something else that hurts America.
Today, Trump held a press conference and called on Biden to stop selling the border wall supplies Trump needs on Day One to finish the border wall.
Trump’s Mandate
A new CNBC survey finds that a solid majority of Americans (54%) are prepared to support Trump as president, and they approve of his key agenda items. For example:
- 60% of Americans say deploying the military to secure the border should be a top priority in the year ahead.
- 59% say cutting individual tax rates should be a top 2025 priority.
- 50% say cutting government spending should be a top priority, while just 22% oppose cuts to Big Government.
- 51% say they expect the economy to improve under Trump’s leadership.
- In contrast, Joe Biden’s approval rating on the economy is a dismal 36%.
ABC Held Accountable
ABC News agreed to settle a defamation suit filed by Donald Trump. According to the settlement, announced over the weekend, the network is paying $16 million -- $15 million to the Trump Presidential Library and $1 million to cover his legal fees. ABC News and host George Stephanopoulos have also issued a public apology for false comments made by Stephanopoulos.
Let me remind you how and why this defamation suit came about.
Back in March, George Stephanopoulos interviewed Rep. Nancy Mace, who is a survivor of rape. Rather than discussing her experience and policies to help victims, he berated Mace for supporting Donald Trump, saying that two juries found him guilty of rape. Stephanopoulos repeated that false claim ten times during the contentious interview.
What makes this even more outrageous is the fact that George Stephanopoulos was one of Bill Clinton’s top attack dogs during the 1992 presidential campaign. It was his job to smear and discredit the numerous women who accused Clinton of sexual assault. Yet he was sitting in judgment of Nancy Mace and lying about Trump.
I am pleased ABC News and Stephanopoulos have been held accountable for maliciously defaming Donald Trump. I think ABC News’ $15 million donation to the Trump Library should pay for the construction of the library’s “Fake News Wing,” highlighting the media’s long list of lies and hoaxes. But there are so many, it could easily be the biggest part of the library!
