Avoiding Past Mistakes

Yesterday, I referred to the “Nervous Nellies” in the GOP who want to restrain Donald Trump from deporting the 10 to 15 million illegal migrants currently in the country, just like they undermined his plan to build the wall.

Trump’s signature issue was thwarted in his first two years by certain Republicans in Congress, who paid more attention to the Washington Post editorial page than their own voters. Eventually, Trump went around them to get the necessary funds to at least get the wall started.

I hope Republicans don’t make that mistake again. A new Rasmussen poll finds that 64% of voters support Trump’s plan to launch “the largest deportation program” in history.

This poll isn’t an outlier. Other polls also found broad support for Trump’s immigration agenda. (Here and here.)

And there’s another example the GOP should learn from. Britain’s Conservative Party suffered a historic landslide defeat this summer largely because of one issue: their repeated failure to deliver on promises to secure Britain’s borders and end illegal immigration.

Left-wing Lunacy

In the coming months, Disney is set to release a live-action adaption of the 1937 classic Snow White. But it’s already embroiled in controversy thanks to the movie’s lead actress, Rachel Zegler, who plays Snow White.

Like many Hollywood celebrities, Zegler is a raving leftist. After Trump’s victory on November 5th, she launched into a completely unhinged, profanity-laced rant against Trump and his supporters.

Among other things, she accused Trump voters of causing “a deep, deep sickness in this country,” adding, “may they never know peace.” She also expressed her fears that her daughter (she doesn’t have one) may not be able to get an abortion in the future.

Let me get this straight: Zegler, who doesn’t even have a child yet, is worried her future daughter won’t have the chance to get to kill her first grandchild.

Zegler has said controversial and antisemitic things before. She is always posting “Free Palestine” messages on social media. She would have a horrible life in “Palestine.”

Maybe the best thing for her would be a one-way ticket to live in “Palestine,” i.e., Gaza, for a year. I’d like to see how far she gets spouting her radical left-wing feminist views in “Hamastan.”

I don’t like to call for boycotts every time some Hollywood controversy is in the news. But this may be one we should consider. There is no reason this woman should get rich from the hard-earned dollars of MAGA Americans.

More Mysteries

The left worked overtime with the dying Cheney wing of the Republican Party to exploit the disruptive demonstration that occurred on January 6, 2021. They tried to make it the defining event of Donald Trump’s presidency, hoping to destroy him.

If Harris and her leftist allies had won, we would be on the way to making January 6th some sort of bizarre holiday where children would be taught “how our democracy survived the onslaught of the MAGA coup.”

Well, one of the ongoing mysteries of January 6th involves the pipe bombs that were planted outside of the Democrat and Republican National Committees.

After four years, more than 1,200 arrests, and who knows how much taxpayer money, the vaunted FBI has been unable to track down the person who was caught on video planting the bombs.

The FBI was so successful in tracking down more than 1,000 people on Capitol Hill on January 6th because it demanded and got from major phone companies the cell phone geolocation data of anyone in the area of Capitol Hill during the demonstration.

The FBI also asked for phone data on anyone who was around the Democrat National Committee and the Republican National Committee at the time the video captured the individual planting the pipe bombs.

But a top FBI official testifying before Congress about the pipe bomb investigation said the phone data on the mystery bomber was corrupted and useless.

That’s odd. The FBI has been investigating for years, and all other phone data was fine. But it was just the data on the bomber that was corrupted.

Rep. Barry Loudermilk, chairman of a key Oversight subcommittee, went back to the phone companies for more information. In an interview this week, Loudermilk said:

“Every major cell carrier responded and confirmed that they did not provide the FBI corrupted data. Additionally, every major cell carrier confirmed they were never notified that the FBI had any issues accessing the data.”

Was someone at the FBI corrupted?

Has the Bureau been caught in another lie like Director Christopher Wray’s lie that only one FBI office was spying on Catholic churches? It wasn’t just one office.

Keep this in mind the next time someone asks why Donald Trump is making controversial or edgy appointments.

Senate Spoilers

A very frustrating thing happens virtually every election cycle. Republican candidates in critical races fall short by the narrowest of margins, and Democrats survive. But the loss isn’t necessarily the GOP’s fault. Third-party “spoilers” siphon off just enough votes to ensure the election of far-left politicians. This year was no different.

Pouring over the election results, it’s clear that third-party candidates, and the Libertarian Party in particular, cost the GOP at least three Senate seats, and maybe a fourth.

•    Michigan – Republican Mike Rogers fell short by roughly 20,000 votes. The Libertarian Party candidate got at least 56,000 votes. Two other third-party candidates took an additional 60,000 votes.

•    Nevada – Republican Sam Brown fell short by roughly 24,000 votes. Two third-party candidates received 41,000 votes.

•    Wisconsin – Republican Eric Hovde lost by roughly 30,000 votes. Third-party candidates took more than 70,000 votes.

•    Pennsylvania – Currently, Republican Dave McCormick leads incumbent Democrat Bob Casey by 25,000 votes. There is a recount underway, and Democrats are working overtime to overturn the result. But Democrats wouldn’t be in a position to steal this seat if the Libertarian candidate had not gotten 89,000 votes.

Israel vs. Iran

As you know, the failed Biden/Harris foreign policy has the Middle East in flames. Not only is Israel fighting the terrorists of Hamas and Hezbollah, they have also been forced to take military action against the Islamic Republic of Iran.

The Biden administration has put incredible pressure on Israel to “restrain” itself in all of these conflicts, even demanding that Israel not strike Iran’s nuclear weapons facilities.

Well, there was breaking news this morning that among the various Iranian military targets that Israel attacked last month, they also destroyed a secret nuclear weapons research facility. According to U.S. officials, it was so secret that most of the Iranian government didn’t even know it existed.

This secret “research facility” was not part of the Iranian regime’s publicly disclosed nuclear program. That’s why the ayatollah hasn’t said much about its destruction – he doesn’t want to admit that he violated the nuclear non-proliferation treaty.

Once again, Israel has done the world a huge favor by setting back the radical regime’s nuclear ambitions.

Decision 2024

In this week’s podcast for the James Dobson Family Institute, I joined JDFI contributors Alison Centofante and Joseph Backholm to discuss the ramifications of the election and what it all means for our nation and the church.
